The year is 1881. The Canadian Pacific Railway orders the Mountain Division to lay one hundred miles of rails in the mountains before winter - a seemingly impossible challenge for the civil engineers leading the project.
Encountering grueling work, men struggle while missing loved ones who reside thousands of miles away.
About the books
Mountain Engineers Series
I am writing a series of historical novels about the Canadian Pacific Railway's Mountain Division. These were the men, in the 1880's, that built the line west of Calgary through the mountains to the Last Spike at Craigllechie, British Columbia.
They were Canadians, Americans and Europeans in the Mountain Division. Chinese workers were only in the Pacific Division building east from the future city of Vancouver.
Most of the civil engineers were Scottish and several published memoirs. I have tracked down copies of those old books and used them as valuable resources for many of the adventures.
